4 months

21 Dec

SO this year, December 21st is pretty much the coolest day ever. No pun intended. Not only is December 21st the Winter Solstice this year, but a total Lunar Eclipse will be taking place. If that isn’t enough – it will also be 4 months tomorrow that Noah and I have been married! Maybe THAT”S why I’m so (beyond) excited for this year’s solstice!! I am honestly more excited for the solstice this year than I am for Christmas. Not that I’m not excited for Christmas….it’s just that Christmas is just one day whereas to me, the solstice represents everything that is to come. I have never cared about the winter solstice before, but this year I have been reading up about it and it’s really interesting!! People have been celebrating the winter solstice or mid-winter for a very, very long time. It is a time of celebration because it means that the days will begin to get longer and brighter. Many Christmas traditions (including Christmas lights, mistletoe, evergreen trees, boughs and holly, feasting, giving gifts and MORE) started long before Christmas was ever celebrated and have roots of various solstice celebrations. One of my favorite things about winter-time is seeing Christmas lights everywhere. This started as a solstice tradition because seeing bright, sparkling lights makes the cold, dark winter nights a little more cheerful!

I don’t think I’ll stay up to watch the Lunar Eclipse (it is happening between 1:30 and 5 AM) but it is very interesting that a total lunar eclipse is occurring on the night of the winter solstice. This hasn’t happened in 632 years!! Oh, and I forgot to mention that it is also a FULL moon! How cool is that!?

And of course, reaching the 4 month mark of being married is like a mini-milestone. We’ve been married for a third of the year! These past 4 months have gone by so quickly so I know the next 4 will as well! Noah – I love you so much and have enjoyed married life with you every single day! I cannot wait for the next 4 months, 4 years, 4 decades. We have become a stronger and happier couple since getting married and I love that! You make me happy every single day and I am so thankful for you!

Happy Winter Solstice/Lunar Eclipse/4 month-aversary!!!!
