Movie Review – King’s Speech

6 Jan

If you’re looking for a great winter movie to see – this is it. On Sunday afternoon my friend J came to visit me while she was in the area. She lives in Baltimore and is very busy becoming a pharmacist so I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like. When she came over on Sunday we knew we wanted to see something but didn’t know what. We looked over what was playing and saw a few things that stood out but this one topped our list. I hadn’t even seen a preview or heard of it before that day, but I am SO glad that we decided to see this movie!

The movie is about King George VI of the United Kingdom. George VI had a stutter and was terrible at public speaking. George VI began to see a speech defect specialist who used unconventional methods to help George VI overcome his stutter. The movie is emotional, engaging, funny and Historical all at the same time. I think it could win best picture, Colin Firth could win best actor or Geoffrey Rush could too. I’m not usually one to rave about a historical movie, but I loved it!! Seriously, go see it this weekend – you will not regret it! And it will not cost the $5 extra that one of those nausea-inducing 3D movies does!
