10 days

It’s been 10 days since I’ve eaten meat. And I’d like to continue this. I was a “vegetarian” for a year right after college, but then I got lazy and went back to being a meat eater. Recently I’ve started thinking more about what eating meat means and how it affects my mind and body. And I don’t like it. This isn’t a declaration of “I’m never going to eat meat again” though I wouldn’t mind getting to that point. Instead, this is a proclomation of “I’m not eating meat, right now.” I’d like to see where this mindset takes me. I think giving oneself ultimatums of “you can’t have this…” just fuels the fire for desire. Not that I’m craving meat, but I hope you get what I’m saying!

Anyways, eating less meat will mean eating more vegetables. I know I’m a sucker for cheese and crackers, but that really cannot be my protein or meal replacement. I hope that this path will truly help me to eat healthier, take better care of myself and be more precautionary about what I’m putting into my body!

    Good luck! I only eat meat about twice a week–I used to be completely meat-free but I do like chicken or turkey on occasion. It can be tough, but you really do get used to it.

    After a while the idea of eating it will not even appeal to you or be an option in your mind. I started out just eating fish and then stopped that too. I used to say I could never be a vegetarian because I liked cheese burgers too much but now I can’t fathom how I ever ate them.
