Turn the beat around (ch-ch-changes)

2 Aug

I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 months since I last posted! I feel like a let down of a blogger, but when I think about why it’s been that long, I realize it’s because I’ve been living life, and it’s been awesome! There has been so much going on this summer  and I feel like time is rushing by because of it. This made me realize that I really do want to blog again, but I wanted to be more serious about it. Find my niche. When I started this blog, I didn’t know where I wanted it to go. I wasn’t all that familiar with blogging and tried to do it in my own way, but I don’t think I knew what that was yet.

What all of this means is that I am starting a new blog. It’s been almost 9 months since I first started this baby of a blog and I think it’s time to move on. I started a new blog, Worries and Wisdom, in hope that it will be a more genuine version of this one. I’ll still write up restaurant reviews, move reviews, concert reviews (the Wisdom part) but I’d also like to get more personal and reveal more of my own thoughts and stories; connect more with readers and passers-by.

I hope that you will join me on the other side as I try to find my place in the World Wide Web, and in life. And to those of you that are reading this now, thank you SO much. You have all supported me and rooted me on in times of question, left me comments and kind words and I truly appreciate that!

Hope to see you soon!

Stuck in a rut

21 Mar

In blogging that is. Or rather, not blogging. Noah says that whenever I get really good at something I tend to either get bored or give up. One big example of this is in college when I started making cake balls. No one had ever heard of them and I started making tons of them. At one point we had over 100 cake balls in our freezer. Noah said I could sell them to bakeries and even had a potential buyer lined up. And then I just gave up. I don’t know why…maybe because of a lack of confidence or a lack in motivation. Either way, that was dumb. Now, 3 years later, cake balls are popping up everywhere – even in Starbucks! And I really missed my opportunity. So I guess I’m doing the same thing with blogging. I think what gets to me is I know there are tons of other bloggers out there who are more interesting, more funny, more whatever – and I don’t feel like I can compete. So I figure if my blog isn’t around then people will just move on and find the next better blog. Sounds silly, I know. But I have enjoyed many of the posts I’ve written. Some have been more forced, but most have not. Most have been organic and whatever comes to mind. And I hope by writing about what I like and what I do and what I think that I can at least make someone’s work day a little less boring. Now comes the hard part….getting back into the swing of things. You know it’s time when your mom sends you an email that only has a subject line reading “Time to update your blog.” Thanks Mom…and Noah! I love you both, because without you I would always stop when it feels convenient.

17 Feb

I just realized today that I haven’t blogged in a week. A WEEK! And during that week, I actually had the thought of “I’m not going to blog anymore.” Yikes. I promise I had a good reason. See, this past weekend we were in Georgia for my nephew’s baby naming. We left on Friday and got back Sunday evening. We had a lot of fun visiting with my in laws, spending time with our new nephew, going to a Galactic concert on Saturday night and having brunch with friends on Sunday afternoon. Monday was Valentine’s Day and we kept it low key. Since we will be celebrating our 6 month-aversary next Monday, we decided to forgo any V-day plans. However, we did have my brother and his girlfriend and our two friends J+J over to play board games. And eat  candy. Tuesday we both went off to work an all was well until mid morning when we both started feeling sick. We each came home and have been home (and sick) since. It has not been fun! We have been sneezing, coughing, groggy and Noah even had a temperature of 103.5!

So you see, I wasn’t slacking…life just got in the way! But today we are feeling much better. We have had a lot of OJ and finally ate some real food. We even went outside and stood in the sun for 10 minutes because it is 67 degrees out!!!

I hope I can get back into the groove of writing regularly!

Variety is the spice of life

8 Feb

This went over my head the other day, but today I realized that Abby from Wife From Scratch had given me a Versatile Blogger Award this month. What’s that? I don’t truly know, but I know that I get to post this…

Along with the award, I have to answer a few questions…

1. Why did you create this blog?
I started this blog because I needed a hobby after we got married. I was waiting for our computer to be fixed and didn’t have much to do that I was consistent with, so I decided to start a blog. It’s a place for me to write about my thoughts, things I like, my life and to “meet” other bloggers.

2. What kinds of blogs do you follow?
I follow a lot of blogs – right now I have 428 new items in my Google Reader! I need to catch up! I mainly follow newlywed blogs, food blogs and home blogs.

3. Favorite make-up brand?
I buy all my makeup from CVS or Target but right now I have really been into Physicians Formula. Some of their products are organic/all natural and they use recycled materials for their packaging. However my favorite mascara is Maybelline Lash Stiletto!

4. Favorite clothing brand?
If I could exclusively shop at brand name stores I would stick to Banana Republic, New York & Company and Ann Taylor Loft. However, my pocketbook is not that large so I stick to whatever I can find. Some of my cutest outfits are from cheap-y places like Charlotte Russe. Don’t hate.

5. Indispensable makeup product?
This is a tough one. I’m going to go with my mascara that I mentioned above. I also couldnt live without my undereye concealer. One side is yellow which masks my dark circles and the other side is skin tone to cover up the yellow. I would probably be saying blush right now but my trick is to just pinch my cheeks until they turn red! (seriously, it works)

6. Favorite color?
Blue or green – so maybe turquoise?

7. Favorite perfume?
All time favorite is Clinique Happy. Runner up is Ralph Lauren Blue.

8. Favorite film?
All time favorite is Forrest Gump. That movie has everything a movie needs. And I hope to look like Robin Wright Penn when I’m her age!

9. What country would you like to visit and why?
I would like to visit Spain, France, The Netherlands and Greece right now. We are planning a trip to the first three for this fall – let’s hope we can make it work!

10. Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or forget blush on one side of your face?
Definitely forget half a side of blush. Blush can easily be wiped off with a wet towel and it comes off on its own throughout the day. I also would be able to pinch the other cheek to make it match. My eyes look completely different with and without mascara so I would just look like a crazy drunk clown if I had only one eye of mascara!

Well, that was fun! Now that you’ve learned a little more about me…you should go check out the 7 blogs that I’ve recently discovered…

Jessica @ The 24 Year Age Gap
Apple @ An Atypical Traditionalist
Heather @ HangryPants
Laura @ Wine and Cheese Please
Mllelibrary @ Blogimony: Where marriage and writing meet
MamaHusky3 @ Blue Print Bride
Vix @ Little Miss Everything

Thanks for stopping by everyone – and another apology for the slow posting this past week!
